Okay seriously! How many weeks since I posted last?? PATHETIC! I just got swamped with 3 weekends in a row of guests in town and then I was a choreographer in our ward roadshow which meant my free-time was totally gobbled and between that and rotating sick in my family I have been totally off the map. I also have been on a crazy chub train - I'M SO MAD!! In just a few weeks my recent progress was totally buried in a heap of baked goods and superfluous snacks. I've been scared to weigh myself since I stepped on a few weeks ago and saw a 157 staring back at me - so bummed I seriously wanted to run away and pretend it wasn't happening. Of course, I have continued working out, that's not my problem as we have previously discussed. For me, it's about diet, that's what wrecks my scene and leaves me feeling really uncomfortable in my clothes, it's just so hard for me!! Not that it's harder for me than anyone else, it just feels like it is (boooh-hoooo). Since I moved to Fountain Valley one year ago I've gained 10 pounds! It totally bums me out to see the pictures from one year ago at this time. But I'm not going to wither in the sadness of my less attractive reflection!!
So that brings us to today - I woke up feeling pretty good, new energy, ready to make a change. I know it's going to be hard, but I'm going to weigh and measure tomorrow and start a new program of keeping my portions small, my snacks smart, nothing unaccounted for. I was so happy to hear from a number of you that felt deserted when I dropped off the blogosphere planet into space. Amy, Farrah, Natasha, Megan, Julia - I'm HERE FOR YOU AGAIN!! Let's get back on the train together.
These are my goals this week:
1. Go to the gym at least one hour this week (I usually do home workouts but working out at the gym I get a better workout FOR SURE)
2. Must have low calorie desserts until Friday - and then only if I've been good all week I can have a scoop of legit ice-cream.
3. Track my eating each day (this is so hard for me right now because I cannot have a computer open if Afton is awake, it's just impossible, so have to track when she naps, which is my workout, shower, get ready and eat lunch time!)
Where are you at ladies? How are you doing? Jules, sounds like your job has you frustrated and the stress it making you eat. Natasha sounds like you're totally making progress and looking really hot....at least that's the word on the street. Farrah, sounds like you went on a little bender after the infomercial thing fizzed out then got crazy sick...what's the status? I would love your feedback ladies - believe me, I can't do this alone!
Ok. I've been lurking for weeks and waiting for your fitness update. I'm up and down on a weekly basis. I crash diet (South Beach- not that horrid SCAM Diet) and then I will pig the freak out. My mom lovingly says, "Then write a vegetarian food blog instead of baking so much..." Thank you mom! As you know, I've been without a job since the weekend after Afton's LAST birthday. Yep. So I can't afford the gym. Which is seriously the biggest bummer for me, because working out really does seem to make the biggest difference *for me*. And the structure is the best part of it... FOR ME.
ReplyDeleteFor the last few months, my weight has been BUMMING ME OUT. But guess what. I made a teeny tiny change last week and am really hoping it's a good start for me. A.) I used a gift card and got new running shoes. Not to RUN mind you... but I have been walking... thats something. B.) I bought a smaller plate. Actually, I bought two smaller plates. Not for me and the Mister, but one salad plate sized plate to eat my meals off of (forced portion control!!!) and one, super small like, bread plate to eat any sweets off of. I tend to FILL my plate when I eat. And lick said plate clean. So I'm hoping that helps get something started. Overall, I'm at the exact same weight I was at on January 1st... which is still about 25 pound heavier than i was when I got married (ahem, July 4, 2009) Anyway... thats the update. Call me when you can! I love you girl. I think you should weigh in btw- I bet you've lost weight with all the running around you've been doing! OH- AND QUESTION. Have you ever heard of/tried Alli? Ally? Ali? Something like that? I've been eyeballing that noise at Target. Some kind of weigh loss "enhancer" yeah...
xoxo
Love you!
MEGANO!! I hear you lady! We are back on this train together! I love the small plates idea, that totally makes sense! I've been buying this bread from Panera that is smaller, so my sandwiches are now smaller, FORCED PORTION CONTROL! And when it comes to running shoes....BRILLIANT! Anytime I get new workout gear of any kind it motivates me and puts a spring in my step. By the way walking is all you need! Don't put that pressure on yourself to run, I find that if you're making yourself run, it's just harder to motivate whereas walking is not intimidating and you can walk multiple times a day, where if you run you have to shower immediately. I'm down with walking. 25 lbs is kind of intimidating, but don't get freaked out and think you have to go agro. Make a goal to loose 5 lbs first, and when you do, you get a treat of some sort. Then make your next goal 10, I swear it will work if you give yourself smaller milestones. I'm not supporting the ALLI stuff. I have heard that it can help a little bit because (similar to the special K diet you did back in 02) it gives you diarhea. I know it can help to shed pounds faster, but in the end it's not helping you because unless you want to take a sketchy pill your whole life, the result is temporary. In my opinion, something that cannot work for long term is not going to give you long term results. Those things only work for short term weight loss that you don't expect to sustain. But do whatever you want lovely girl, that's just my opinion.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear from you and believe me I'm gonna call you SOON!! Love you!
by the way, I weighed myself this morning and you're right Megan, not as bad as I feared. I was at 153, not where I want to be but not as bad as 157.
ReplyDeleteCaroline! Thanks for coming back to us!!! I'm on a roll which for me often means time to fall off of the wagon. Thanks for the support! I'm finally making significant progress by a) working out 6 days a week with two double workouts, b) watching my portions!!!, c) doing some calorie counting but mainly trying to be smart about WHAT I'm eating, and) denying myself daily desserts-Caroline I know you love it but you might want to consider it too because once you do it kind of loses its hold on you.
ReplyDeleteThanks again lady!!!
Mad props out to Natasha for the "no dessert" policy. When Caroline says I went on a bender, she's not kidding! In fact, it became so habitual to eat cookies after meals or before bed, I found I was eating them even when I didn't WANT them or when I wasn't even hungry anymore- they were just THERE and just SO GOOD, I saw no reason to resist.
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm all out of cookie dough, I've found the oranges on my counter have done just the same trick for my sweet-tooth cravings and it's a total guilt free snack if I just need something late at night. Turns out, I don't actually NEED another meal at 10pm!
I've found that if I stock up my kitchen with healthy, fresh, whole foods as options, I don't need to reach for the packaged granola bars, chocolate chips, cookies, etc.
Being sick has really taken it's toll and I'm having a hard time doing much more than hacking crap up and sleeping after every minor trip out. This week, I'm stocking up on spaghetti squash (a great pasta/carb alternative) and making that amazing vegetable soup I love so much. As long as I have prepared food that's meat/vegetable-based, I have less need for cereal and other non-filling carbs-as-meal situations. And hopefully that will get my health back on track; when I can't run, I can't sleep. And that's certainly not helping this situation!
Sorry F-dub, being sick can throw you on a whole nother level. Keep getting out of bed and trying to motivate but remember to take frequent breaks and take care of yourself! TASH!! I know that not eating desserts would lead to more dramatic weight loss, but I need to do this in a way that is sustainable long term. I've found, the longer I take to loose the weight, the better I can keep it off, like, if I do something drastic that is really really hard for me, I break HARD. But when I lost 24 pounds after baby I had dessert every night, but it was totally low cal. For example, I might have strawberries with some light cool whip or a piece of cantaloupe or a 2 point weight watchers ice cream bar. Just something 2 points or less. If I had a banner day and maxed my calories I would just have herbal tea. I just need a little sweet after dinner, but I feel you. And I think you're a superstar for making great progress! Can't wait to see your hot A!
ReplyDeletehi ladies!
ReplyDeletei'm not sure how much help i can be this month. I too, bought new running shoes - i bought my last pair 4 years ago! i LOVE them, and am hoping they start my motivation again. with that being said, we are moving everything into storage in 3 weeks which means we have to eat everything in the fridge/freezer. luckily, it's not filled with crap, but eating super healthy is harder when you are cleaning house. i have committed to exercising 3x/wk. it's a good jump start and keeps me sore. i can't start over committing. something reasonable is much more likely to not get left on the back burner.
i feel like this is a confession blog. which is SO great! hahaa. it keeps us focused and gets us back on track if we slide. knowing we all support each other is kind of awesome.
HA! Total confession blog!! I'm going to try and steer a little out of confessions and into solutions over the next few weeks but lately you bet your butt it's a confession blog! So funny - love you girl!
